DNA Submission Requirements

• Submitted DNA should be free of contaminants and intact. When DNA QC results are atypical, we require your approval before continuing with the sample. Please review Discovery DNA isolation and quality control recommendations for more details on generating high-quality DNA.


• DNA samples may be suspended in a wide variety of buffers:
  • 10mM Tris
  • dH2O
  • Qiagen EB
  • TE
  The most critical requirement is that buffers contain no more than 0.1mM EDTA


• DNA amounts required for specific applications can be found in the table below:

  *For ChIP-Seq, DNA shear size prior to IP should ideally be 250-300, but up to a maximum of 600bp. DNA must be visualized in this range to meet our QC standards.

• Samples should be submitted in polypropylene PCR plates (i.e.Thermo Fisher, catalog # AB-2400)
  • Plates should be clearly labeled with both Discovery project number and Discovery sample number range
  • Plates should be sealed firmly with adhesive foil that can withstand -80°C temperatures (i.e. Sigma Aldrich, catalog # CLS6570)


• If submitting fewer than 9 samples, 1.5mL eppendorf tubes may be used
  • Each tube should be clearly labeled with the Discovery project number and Discovery sample number
